The year 2009 witnessed many upheavals –social, environmental, economic, political, and spiritual. In such adverse times some of the first sectors to feel the brunt of the upheaval are arts and cultural producers, thus cultural workers have an important role to play in shining light, bringing hope, and illuminating alternatives in difficult times. Culture Clash explores the multifaceted modes of cultural production in a capitalist context and the roles of cultural producers in raising human consciousness and evolving culture. As cultural workers, that task of “cultural evolution” may ultimately fall upon our shoulders.
